what is Homebrew?

OK, so i have the LG rumor touch, and when i put music on it, i move it the way LG doesnt want you too, through the computer. and one of the folders that came with the phone says "homebrew" and idk what its for and when i open it nothing pops up (no hidden files either) and i was just wondering what it could be used for and what exactly is a homebrew? thanks.

homebrew is usually a term that means its a program that was home made by a normal person. they are programs or hacks that are done by people that dont work for the company, and the mods are often going against what the manufacturer wants. either way homebrew pushes hardware and code to limit and can do some cool shit. as long as you arent modding a ps3 u can count you will prolly be safe to use homebrew. got no idea what that folder is on your phone however.

o ok, thank you. yea, i dont know either. i thought it was pretty strange it was on there since it was from the manufacturer to me. no middle men to put stuff on it. and my moms has it too >.> i wonder what it does... lol.
