| I bought the 955 last weekend and I temporarily overclocked it to 4.02GHz. I've since put it back down to 3.2GHz and I've not noticed any performance difference in my games. I play at 1440x900 and I have a GTX 560Ti. Is there any real reason to overclock as high as 4GHz? | |

| I have a 555 unlocked to a B55. I keep it at 3.2GHz most of the time.
I was fiddling around one day and OCed to a bit over 4.1GHz. At 3.2GHz Tripper+ does around 160,000trips/second. At 4.1GHz, it was doing 260,000+. So, depending on what you are trying to do, you may notice the results or not.

I've literally been able to max out the games I have with my current setup at 1440x900, so I'll overclock my CPU once I start to see lag or up to 1920x1080

| with my 945 i was concerned about heat, so i prime 95'd it for a while and to my surprise i never broke 62 degree celcius under full load. I have not overclocked yet but when i run my cpu intensive software i set it to render all four cores and both threads per core. once i get an H70 water cooler i will oc it as far as it will go, i think it can go to 3.8 since its not a BE | |

My B55 hasn't gone over 43C. Idles at 25C. I have a CM Hyper 212+ on it, too. But, still.

Get a cheap aftermarket cooler. Whatever is best rated and will fit in your case. Just do it.

I bought some thermal paste at the same time as the H50, but I kept the pre-applied thermal paste on the H50 when I fitted it as I couldn't be bothered to apply the one I bought. I think I might give it a go over the weekend and then bump my CPU up to 4Ghz again. Get the H70 if you can get it for quite cheap, but I'd say that there's nothing wrong with the H50, and it's a lot cheaper. Admittedly the H70 does look awesome, but it's £30 more expensive than the H50 over here and I don't care about my cooling THAT much
